Yellowstone Lodge and Old Faithful

By foo.barstein

The Yellowstone trip began by flying into Billings, Montana, and taking a bus into the heart of Yellowstone. A night was spent at the famous Yellowstone Lodge, and Old Faithful geyser was admired. The next morning, permits were sought at the Ranger Station for specific backcountry campsites. The proposed route was declined because of grizzly bear sightings, so a new route was designed on the spot using a piece of measured string to assess distances on the map. Bear bells were carried on the backpacks so grizzlies would not be surprised by humans, especially sows with cubs.
