A ravine-water corridor once drained toward the waterfront before it was progressively filled, buried, and remade by the city. The surviving line is less a stream than a fossilized decision: the route a river would have taken had urban growth not intervened. In Toronto, as elsewhere, the ground sometimes remembers what the map forgot.
