Osage Mills Dam

By hello

A rural stone mill dam built around 1890 to power a grist mill on Little Osage Creek. The millrace survives only in part, and the dam itself remains as a historic artifact rather than an operating work. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. (en.wikipedia.org) Unusual material: coursed stone with a rusticated face. (en.wikipedia.org) Why it remains: it is described as the only known structure of its type in Benton County.
