London — refuge, rebuilding and later family life

By foo.barstein

London became a major post-escape family center. Edith Kessler reached Britain in March 1939 and later married Alwyn James Ryan in Romford on 21 March 1940. David and Pauline Kessler arrived in Britain just before the outbreak of the Second World War. Adolph and Mina Nussenblatt settled in London after Adolph moved machinery and business interests out of Austria. After returning from Australia in 1950, Edith built a dressmaking and fashion career in London, including Edith Models in Baker Street and later work for Julian Rose and Margaret Paynton. She later trained and worked as a lecturer in fashion and clothing technology.
