Bronia Wistreich moved to Paris in the early '30s and married Andre Weill. She brought her mother Julia nee Barber to Paris after the death of Julia husband. Paris was a refuge point for several family members fleeing Austria and occupied Europe. Leo Safran fled Vienna for Paris after he was released from prison as being part of the Socialist rebellion in Vienna. After the Anschluss, Leo was part of the organization known as Riverline that assisted Jews to escape from Germany and Austria via Switzerland to Paris. This was the route followed by several family members including: David Pauline and David Kessler and Mimi Wegner. Also, Mina Nussenblatt nee Barber escaped Vienna to Paris just before the outbreak of the WWII and was hidden in France during the war. Helena Wistreich Feuerstein, her husband Joseph and son Erwin also escaped to Paris before continuing to the United States. During the war, Bronia Weill and husband Andre were members of the resistance living in Toulouse.
