Paris was a refuge point for several family members fleeing Austria and occupied Europe. Bronia Wistreich-Weill settled in France before the war and later went to Toulouse, where she was active in the French Resistance. David and Pauline Kessler passed through Paris after their escape from Austria and Switzerland before moving on to Britain. Helena Wistreich Feuerstein, her husband Joseph and son Erwin also escaped to Paris before continuing to the United States.
