David and Pauline Kessler’s escape route

By foo.barstein

Leo Safran helped arrange David and Pauline Kessler’s escape through the socialist Riverline network. David crossed first at a border gate left open after bribery. Pauline crossed separately, found the gate closed, ran along the fence and crawled through a hole underneath. They reunited in Switzerland and continued to Paris, where Bronia Wistreich-Weill had already established herself. They later obtained papers to enter Britain and arrived shortly before the outbreak of the Second World War.
